Baseball Game Preview: Randle Lions vs. Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos

For the second straight game, Randle will face off against Fort Bend Marshall. The Lions will welcome the Buffalos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Randle is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Fort Bend Marshall with a sharp 27-4 victory on Tuesday. The Lions have beaten the Buffalos the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Buffalos has come to flipping the script.

Cedrick McClintock made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with five RBI and two doubles.

In other pitching news, Jasen Gutierrez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Randle is 7-3 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8-2 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Randle got a massive performance out of Jaeden Humphrey, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Humphrey has become a key player for the Lions: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-11-2 otherwise. Cristian Elizondo was another key player, scoring six runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.

Randle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Randle's win bumped their record up to 13-11-2. As for Fort Bend Marshall, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Randle has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fort Bend Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
