On Friday, The Jesuit Crusaders faced the Lake Oswego Lakers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Jesuit snuck past Lake Oswego with a 34-28 win. The win was nothing new for Jesuit as they're now sitting on six straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jesuit to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lonnie Burt, who rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown. Burt hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Treynor Cleeland, who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the defeat, Lake Oswego saw an underclassman step up: Lamarcus Bell rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Bell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
Jesuit's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.7 points per game. As for Lake Oswego, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Jesuit will face off against West Linn at TBD on Friday. West Linn has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 455 points over their last ten games. Lake Oswego does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
