Melba is 2-8 against Nampa Christian since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Melba put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. They walked away with an 18-14 victory over Payette.

Kyla Harris was a standout: she scored six runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Kodi Adams was another key player, going 4-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.
Melba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Nampa Christian entered their tilt with West Side on Saturday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Pirates. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
Ashlynn Swank made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up six earned runs off three hits. Swank was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Myranda Van Vliet and Addison Gray did most of the damage at the plate: Van Vliet went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Gray scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Van Vliet also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kate Nelson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Melba's record is now 4-7. As for Nampa Christian, their record now sits at 10-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Melba has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Nampa Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Melba suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Nampa Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
