Softball Recap: Westby Comes Up Short

If Westby was feeling good fresh off their 12-3 takedown of Seneca on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Norse fell just short of the Viroqua Blackhawks by a score of 11-10 on Monday. Even though they lost, the Norse's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Tatum Theige was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Davidson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Westby's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Viroqua, with the win, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-12.

Coming up, Westby is taking a road trip to challenge Bangor at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Norse's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Viroqua, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arcadia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
