The Bellevue East Chieftains will head out on the road to face off against the Omaha Westside Warriors on Monday. Bellevue East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Bellevue East took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Blair 15-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chieftains as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ricky Scarpello was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Scarpello was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 13 matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Graham, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayden Hansen, who scored three runs.
Bellevue East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Omaha Westside came up short against Lincoln Southwest on Friday and fell 7-3. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Silver Hawks: they've now lost three in a row.
Omaha Westside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Markus Chandler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Omaha Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Bellevue East, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Omaha Westside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bellevue East has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Omaha Westside, though, as they've only averaged .320. Will they be able to contain Bellevue East's hitters?
Bellevue East couldn't quite finish off Omaha Westside when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
