Central (Crystal Lake, Ill.) snapped the five-game winning streak of
Grayslake North (Grayslake, Ill.), with a 35-6 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Ryan Williams touchdown run in the first quarter, the Tigers led 14-6 at the half.
Central grew its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Kyle Lavand touchdown pass to
Eric Hjerstedt.
The Knights came in allowing just 17.2 points per game this season. The Crystal Lake school went into the matchup giving up only 17.4 points per game. Grayslake North's six points were well below its season average of 41.2 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Grayslake North, which notched a 42-14 victory over Hampshire in its previous outing. The win brought Central's winning streak to four games.
Central (5-1) goes up against Woodstock North in a Fox Valley - Fox game matchup next week, while Grayslake North (5-1) locks horns with Grayslake Central also in a Fox Valley - Fox game.
