Basketball Recap: Brody Fleischman Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Overton was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Maxwell on Saturday. Everything went the Overton Eagles' way against the Maxwell Wildcats as the Overton Eagles made off with a 62-38 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted against the Wildcats since January 5, 2019.

Overton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Fleischman out in front who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and five rebounds. What's more, Fleischman also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Chase Potter was another key player, as he made all 6 shots he took racking up 12 points.

Overton was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maxwell only racked up nine assists.

Maxwell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Pagel, who posted eight points along with eight boards and three steals. Pagel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Trenton Miller also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

Overton's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5. As for Maxwell, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Overton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-58 victory against Brady on the 14th. As for Maxwell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-46 win against Maywood/Hayes Center on the 14th.
