Plainfield has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Perry Meridian Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Plainfield will be strutting in after a win while Perry Meridian will be coming in after a defeat.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact Plainfield proved on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-46 win over Zionsville. Given Plainfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Zionsville is ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plainfield had a senior duo take command as Collin Schmidt scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and Eli Ellis scored 13 points along with seven assists. Schmidt also pulled down eight+ rebounds for the first time this season. Noah Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Perry Meridian, who are still winless after their sixth game. They had to suffer through a rough 75-42 loss at the hands of Whiteland.
Plainfield's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Perry Meridian, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
Plainfield was able to grind out a solid win over Perry Meridian in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 49-37. Will Plainfield repeat their success, or does Perry Meridian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
