Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Crusaders vs. St. John Paul II Academy Eagles

For the second straight game, Cardinal Newman will face off against St. John Paul II Academy. The Crusaders will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Newman is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Cardinal Newman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let St. John Paul II Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Cardinal Newman's victory was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 3.59 runs allowed on the season.

Blake Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Anderson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Finn Duran was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dominic Demarzo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cardinal Newman's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for St. John Paul II Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10-1.
