The North Duplin Rebels's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals at 3:00 p.m. on December 20th. North Duplin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Wayne Preparatory Academy likes a good challenge.
Even though Jones scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, North Duplin still came out on top. North Duplin narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Jones 64-61.
North Duplin can attribute much of their success to Dujuan Armwood, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds, and Micah Lesesane, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, Wayne Preparatory Academy pushed their score all the way to 63 last Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 82-63 bruising from Wayne Country Day. Wayne Preparatory Academy has not had much luck with Wayne Country Day recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite their loss, Wayne Preparatory Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isaiah Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Thomas' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Zachary Golden was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
The win got North Duplin back to even at 3-3. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
