It was another big night for Gage Walton, who rushed for 91 yards and five touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 63 receiving yards. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Plainview proved: they limited Laurel-Concord-Coleridge to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Hunter Meyer for the heroic effort on defense: he. Plainview didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.2.
Plainview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Emiliano Solorzano-Vargas and Wyatt Schroth.
Meanwhile, Stanton was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Elkhorn Valley 66-15. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
Stanton found their leader in freshman Royce Hansen, who rushed for 116 yards and four TDs on only six carries, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Hunter Robinette was another key player, rushing for 73 yards and one score.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stanton's defense and their five sacks. Gatlin Davidson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Plainview's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Stanton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Plainview might still be hurting after the 48-28 loss they got from Stanton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Pirates, Barrett Wilke (who rushed for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 105 yards and one TD on only six passes) won't be suiting up this time.
