The Griffith Panthers won the last time they faced the Highland Trojans, and things went their way on Thursday too. Griffith came out on top against Highland by a score of 53-42. Given Griffith's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Highland is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Griffith to victory were Cameron Chandler and Savon Miles. Chandler dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Miles scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Miles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Strezo, who scored five points along with five steals.
Highland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Walter Glover jr, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Kayleb Young who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
The win made it two in a row for Griffith and bumps their season record up to 13-7. As for Highland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Griffith will take on Bowman Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hammond Bishop Noll at 7:00 p.m. Hammond Bishop Noll will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Highland surely won't give up without a fight.
