After flying high against the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals last Friday, The Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors came back down to earth. Spartanburg Christian Academy suffered a tough 41-16 loss at the hands of Greenwood Christian on Friday. Spartanburg Christian Academy lost against Greenwood Christian in their previous head to head back in August, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 51-28 score last time.
Spartanburg Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Asante Jenkins, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown. Noah Caffell also helped out as he racked up 145 rushing yards.
Greenwood Christian found their leader in underclassman Isaiah Scott-Palacios, who rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries. Scott-Palacios' longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Owen Whittington was in the mix as well, providing Greenwood Christian with two touchdowns.
Spartanburg Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Greenwood Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Spartanburg Christian Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Northside Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Northside Christian Academy is ranked 198th, while Spartanburg Christian Academy is ranked 221st). As for Greenwood Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Orangeburg Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
