St. Pauls is 5-0 against Clinton since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The St. Pauls Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Clinton Dark Horses at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, St. Pauls came up short against West Bladen and fell 48-40. While losing is never fun, St. Pauls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while West Bladen is ranked 68th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyson Thompson, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times he's played. Markeon Fletcher was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Clinton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 56-44 to Midway. Clinton has struggled against Midway recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
St. Pauls has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Clinton, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
St. Pauls was able to grind out a solid victory over Clinton in their previous meeting back in January, winning 63-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Pauls since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
