The South Bend Adams Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Elkhart Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. South Bend Adams put the hurt on Elkhart Christian Academy with a sharp 14-2 victory. Winning may never get old, but South Bend Adams sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

DAVID ASCANIO looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AIDAN MICINSKI, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of BROCK STULTZ, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles.
South Bend Adams kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Elkhart hadn't done well against Mishawaka Marian recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Lions blew past the Knights 12-3. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Brennon Whickcar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Max Shreiner was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Elkhart: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Quinn Rost, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
South Bend Adams' record now sits at 7-18. As for Elkhart, their record is now 13-9.
South Bend Adams skirted past Elkhart 6-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
