Mason Mallory had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 198 yards and three TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 67 yards and one score. What's more, he racked up 142.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September.
Meanwhile, Riverdale had just enough and edged out Manatee 28-26 on Friday.
Riverdale's win came from a few key players St. Thomas Aquinas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lovensky Blanchard, who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 110 rushing yards. Theodis Harris was in the mix as well, providing Riverdale with two TDs.
Riverdale's run defense was locked in: Manatee could only muster 2.7 yards per carry. While two picked up at least 13 total tackles, Miguel Clarke Jr stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks, made 13 total tackles (5.5 for loss), and defended one pass. Riverdale's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.7.
Riverdale's defense didn't let Mason Summer, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Manatee's QB won't forget Clarke Jr anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Clarke Jr also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13. Another thorn in Manatee's side was Julien Correa, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Riverdale's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 12-1.
