The Buckeye Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Eastmark Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Buckeye was fully in charge, breezing past Lake Havasu 49-14 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Buckeye.
Zachary Bennett was on fire: he threw for 307 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Darius Haskin did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Buckeye's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Lasana Keita.
Meanwhile, Eastmark waltzed into Friday's game with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past Apache Junction, posting a 50-7 win at home.
Eastmark relied on the efforts of Collin Minnaar, who picked up 107 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and Mason Jensen, who threw for 229 yards and six touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Buckeye to 7-3 and Eastmark to 8-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Thursday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Buckeye commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.2 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Eastmark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Thursday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
