After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln Northeast, the Kearney Bearcats were happy to have found some success on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Westview 71-69. With that victory, Kearney brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
Harley Straka was nothing short of spectacular: she scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kennidy Garner, who scored 15 points.
Kearney now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Westview, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11.
Kearney will take on the Knights at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Westview, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Wildcats on February 6th. Millard West will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
