Melrose has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Trezevant Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Melrose came up short against Ridgeway and fell 74-61.
The losing side was boosted by William Carver, who scored 16 points. Jaylen Cooley was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Trezevant's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Lakeland Preparatory by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (56), Trezevant still had to take the loss.
Melrose's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Trezevant, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Trezevant in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, sneaking past 52-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Melrose since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
