American Fork is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to defend their home field against the Lone Peak Knights at 7:00 p.m.
American Fork is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Davis, who was ranked third at the time (American Fork was ranked eighth). The Cavemen took a 29-15 bruising from the Darts on Friday. The match marked the Cavemen's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kapono Manuela, who threw for 154 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 59 yards on only six carries. A healthy portion of Manuela's aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to David Dean, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Beckham Rees for the heroic effort on defense: he. American Fork didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.
Meanwhile, Lone Peak got the win against Corner Canyon on Friday by a conclusive 42-21. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.
A big part of Lone Peak's win came down to the chemistry between Cruz Christensen and his top target Jaron Pula. Christensen threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns while Pula picked up 155 receiving yards and three scores. The dominant performance also gave Christensen a new career-high in rushing yards (ten). Sean Tahi was another key back, rushing for 91 yards and one TD.
Lone Peak didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Toa Tanuvasa led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Lone Peak pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.6 points over those games. As for American Fork, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.
American Fork might still be hurting after the 49-28 defeat they got from Lone Peak when the teams last played back in September of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cavemen were down 35-14.
