After a string of three wins, the Bishop Union Broncos's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pyramid Lake. While losing is never fun, Bishop Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 533rd in California, while Pyramid Lake is ranked 30th in Nevada).
Pyramid Lake got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Takoda Rivers out in front who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Rivers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Rylen Patrick was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Bishop Union's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Pyramid Lake, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Bishop Union won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Owyhee at 9:00 a.m. on December 9th. Owyhee's defense has only allowed 23.3 points per game this season, so Bishop Union's offense will have their work cut out for Bishop Union. Pyramid Lake and Mammoth will face off at 3:15 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mammoth is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game.
