At the plate, Lilah Millender was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Alexis Webb was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II came up short against Lincoln on Tuesday and fell 7-3.
AMANDA THOMPSON put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. THOMPSON was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
THOMPSON wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was SADIE DONAWAY, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Franklin County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. John Paul II, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
St. John Paul II's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Franklin County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. It's a different story for St. John Paul II, though, as they've only averaged .212. Will they be able to contain Franklin County's hitters?
Franklin County took their victory against St. John Paul II when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
