The Old Orchard Beach Seagulls will take on the Sacopee Valley Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Old Orchard Beach comes in on 15 and Sacopee Valley on four.
Old Orchard Beach stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-0 victory over Mount View on the road. Given Old Orchard Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine football rankings (they are ranked first, while Mount View is ranked 28th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Sacopee Valley's game on Saturday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They beat Boothbay by the very same score they won with last week: 22-20.
Dylan Capano was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 21 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Capano is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last six games he's played. Brady Metcalf did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 97 receiving yards.
Sacopee Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Old Orchard Beach's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Sacopee Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3.
Everything came up roses for Old Orchard Beach against Sacopee Valley in their previous matchup back in September as the team secured a 82-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Old Orchard Beach since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
