The Covenant Christian Cougars will face off against the Trinity Valley Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Covenant Christian will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Saturday, then bounced right back against Parish Episcopal on Monday. Covenant Christian put the hurt on Parish Episcopal with a sharp 10-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cougars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Carter Humphrey made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Covenant Christian is 3-1 when Humphrey allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 0-1-2 otherwise. Humphrey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Covenant Christian let Collin Balderree and Matthew Boughton run wild. Balderree scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Boughton scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Balderree has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Jordan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Trinity Valley came into Saturday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over St. Stephen's Episcopal on Saturday.
Jackson Drake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Audi, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Hub Nickels was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Covenant Christian now has a winning record of 3-2-2. As for Trinity Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Covenant Christian suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Trinity Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can Covenant Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
