Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 72-45 blowout they got on the road against Athens. The victory was just business as usual for Troy, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.
Despite the loss, Athens saw an underclassman step up: Nick Robbins scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Jase Babcock, who scored five points.
Troy's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Athens, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Troy will be playing at home against Wellsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Athens, they will head out on the road to face off against Towanda at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Towanda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 649th, while Athens is ranked 248th).
