The South Caldwell Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Bandys Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bandys took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on South Caldwell, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, everything came up roses for South Caldwell on the road against Bunker Hill as the squad secured a 60-24 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-10.
Lillie Bumgarner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Addison Edwards, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Bandys' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of South Iredell by a score of 54-51.
Despite the defeat, Bandys had strong showings from Kate Dutka, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Naudia Summerville, who scored 17 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. Dutka is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Anderson, who scored 10 points along with 4 steals.
Their wins bumped South Caldwell to 2-2 and Bunker Hill to 1-1.
South Caldwell was able to grind out a solid win over Bandys in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 40-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Caldwell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
