Baseball Game Preview: Prospect Ridge Academy Miners vs. Denver Christian Thunder

The Prospect Ridge Academy Miners will head out to face off against the Denver Christian Thunder at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Prospect Ridge Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Prospect Ridge Academy earned a 4-1 win over The Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Miners.

Prospect Ridge Academy's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Liam Schilling, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The Miners are undefeated when Schilling posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Denver Christian suffered their closest defeat since March 26, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Peak to Peak by a score of 6-4. The Thunder have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caleb Stork made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Reece Miller also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Denver Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Prospect Ridge Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Denver Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Prospect Ridge Academy couldn't quite finish off Denver Christian when the teams last played on April 2nd and fell 9-7. Can the Miners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
