Bishop Ireton had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 3-17 to make it four. They fell 8-3 to the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in March.
Bishop Ireton got a good showing from Alex Fukuda, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Bishop Ireton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Foley, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their record now sits at 12-10-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
On Our Lady of Good Counsel's side, Drew Bezak made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Bezak also tossed no walks, which is notable because Our Lady of Good Counsel is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 9-10-1 otherwise. Bezak was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Our Lady of Good Counsel let Andrew Kirk and Ryan Noll run wild. Kirk went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Noll went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Noll has become a key player for Our Lady of Good Counsel: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Bishop Ireton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they will square off against St. John's at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
