The Tucumcari Rattlers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Robertson on Friday. Tucumcari has not had much luck with Robertson recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Tucumcari's loss came despite strong showings from Caylee Benavidez and Kyla Lopez. Benavidez scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks, while Lopez dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Robertson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lovely Allemand, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arianna Martinez, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Tucumcari's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Robertson, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
Tucumcari and Santa Rosa will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Santa Rosa: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Tucumcari has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. Robertson will take on Moriarty at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Moriarty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Robertson is ranked 29th).
