The Aubrey Rogers Patriots will square off against the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Aubrey Rogers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Aubrey Rogers is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lemon Bay just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 8-4 to the Manta Rays.
Alex Peters was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Christian Arias, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Park Academy). They put the hurt on Glades Central with a sharp 17-1 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Greyhounds needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Aiden Perkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Lincoln Park Academy is 4-1 when Perkins posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-12 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Shaw, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Knight, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Lincoln Park Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lincoln Park Academy moved to 4-13 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Aubrey Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 20-5.
Lincoln Park Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Aubrey Rogers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Lincoln Park Academy, though, as they've only averaged .217. Will they be able to contain Aubrey Rogers' hitters?
