The PikeView Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Capital Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. PikeView will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
PikeView barely beat Greater Beckley Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 11-0 win on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Shelby Maddox made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Compton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoey Tupper, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Capital didn't have quite enough to beat Elk Valley Christian on Tuesday and fell 7-6.
Like PikeView, Capital also got a great game from a two-way player: Faithanna Hall. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Zianna Carter made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
PikeView's record now sits at 18-5. As for Capital, they dropped their record down to 7-21 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Capital's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. PikeView has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Capital, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will PikeView keep running through batters, or will the Cougars buck the trend?
