Basketball Recap: Martin County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Martin County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-50 W against the Keys Gate Knights.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Martin County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brianna Valenza, who posted 12 points. Katelyn Tanis was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Despite the loss, Keys Gate still got an impressive performance from Naya Hardisson, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 29 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Essence Deleon, who had 12 points.

Martin County's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Keys Gate, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Martin County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-45 loss against Tampa Catholic on the 27th. As for Keys Gate, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-57 defeat against Providence School on the 20th.
