Softball Recap: Mount Miguel Victorious

Mount Miguel won the last time they faced Crawford and things went their way on Friday too. Mount Miguel walked away with an 11-7 win over Crawford. With that victory, the Matadors brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Laylah Castro was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maleeya-Janae Clark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Mount Miguel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Mount Miguel's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Crawford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Miguel will take on Monte Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give Mount Miguel their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Crawford, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mount Miguel at 3:30 p.m. on April 9.
