The Piqua Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Fairborn Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Piqua and 26 for Fairborn.
Piqua pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Stebbins 67-63. While losing is never fun, Piqua can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 675th, while Stebbins is ranked 295th).
Meanwhile, Fairborn came up short against Butler on Friday and fell 35-27. Fairborn has struggled against Butler recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Piqua has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Fairborn, they bumped their record down to 0-15 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Piqua against Fairborn in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 55-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Piqua since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
