Union has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Edmond Santa Fe Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 229 points over their last four matches.
Last Friday, Union faced Mustang in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Union really took it to Mustang for the full four quarters, racking up a 46-7 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Union, who have now won five matches by 33 points or more so far this season.
Boston Carrasco and Jordan Schelling were among the main playmakers for Union as the former rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns. Carrasco's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Jino Boyd also helped out with an impressive 88 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Edmond Santa Fe had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They managed a 52-48 win over Norman. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Demarius Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 311 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Daniel Newton was another key contributor, rushing for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Union's win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. Edmond Santa Fe has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six matchups, giving them a 5-1 record.
We should be in store for an exciting game Thursday as Union and Edmond Santa Fe have no problem gaining yardage. Union has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 433 total yards per game. However, it's not like Edmond Santa Fe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 426.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Union against Edmond Santa Fe in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 62-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
