The Hoisington Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Halstead. Hoisington has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylee Hahn, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Mallory Mooney was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hoisington struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hoisington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Halstead, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoisington will take on Victoria at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victoria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Hoisington is ranked 21st). As for Halstead, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Council Grove at 6:00 a.m.
