The Coconino Panthers entered their tilt with the Prescott Badgers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Coconino secured a 59-55 W over Prescott on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Coconino's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Larsen, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Larsen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aviana Scharfenberger, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Several Badgers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylee Hobson, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Hobson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Addie Prisciandaro was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Prescott were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coconino only posted two assists.
Coconino pushed their record up to 11-11 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Prescott, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Coconino will head out on the road to face off against Mohave at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mohave has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20. As for Prescott, they will be playing at home against Bradshaw Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
