Central is 10-0 against Hampshire since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Central Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Hampshire Whip-Purs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Jacobs typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Central proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Golden Eagles 59-44. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Jacobs is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lj Kerr, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Shell, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Hampshire unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 48-36 to McHenry.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. As for Hampshire, their loss dropped their record down to 13-16.
Central beat Hampshire 52-40 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
