The Broomfield Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Fruita Monument Wildcats on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Wildcats 84-79. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (77), Broomfield still had to take the loss.
Broomfield's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Blaes Kane, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Will Lapham, who scored 11 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fruita Monument to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Orchard, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Orchard's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Reed, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Broomfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Fruita Monument, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Broomfield is on the road again on Friday and play against Green Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Green Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday.
