After a string of four wins, the Cross Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were outmatched by Military Magnet Academy at home and fell 93-37. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cross in their matchups with Military Magnet Academy: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Cross still got an impressive performance from Lauren Middleton, who scored 21 points. Middleton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Cross struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Military Magnet Academy racked up 17 assists.
Dream Watson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds for Military Magnet Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of DaNariyah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Cross' defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3. As for Military Magnet Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Cross will play host again and welcome Lowcountry Leadership, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lowcountry Leadership comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Military Magnet Academy on the road again on Wednesday and play against Charleston Math & Science at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Charleston Math & Science will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Military Magnet Academy is ranked 32nd).
