Ansley/Litchfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caydence Feldman out in front who posted nine points along with six assists and four steals. Feldman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Pleasanton had to take the L. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Loomis. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 17-12 in the first quarter.
Ansley/Litchfield will need to focus on slowing down Kenlie Zwiener, one of several Pleasanton players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Zwiener a new career-high in blocks (four). Tyra Sekutera was another key player, going 6-for-12 on her way to 21 points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Pleasanton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Pleasanton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Ansley/Litchfield, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ansley/Litchfield has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pleasanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Ansley/Litchfield ended up a good deal behind Pleasanton when the teams last played back in January, losing 50-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sekutera, who went 8-for-20 en route to 27 points and four steals.
