Basketball Recap: Titus Terpstra's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Demotte Christian over Heritage Christian

DeMotte Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Heritage Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Heritage Christian Defenders 60-54. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Defenders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

DeMotte Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Titus Terpstra, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. Those 14 points gave Terpstra a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Bos, who had 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Heritage Christian was led to victory by Andrew Regnerus and Calvin Engelsma. Regnerus went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds, while Engelsma put up 12 points and five rebounds. The game was Regnerus' sixth in a row with at least ten points.

DeMotte Christian now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Heritage Christian, their record is now 5-2.

DeMotte Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-32 victory against North Newton on the 14th. After both having extra time off, Heritage Christian and Parkview Christian Academy will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Heritage Christian is facing Parkview Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Parkview Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
