PARAMUS, N.J. - Special teams carried
Paramus Catholic (Paramus, N.J.) to a 55-14 victory over Notre Dame (Lawrenceville, N.J.) on Saturday as the return units contributed two touchdowns. The special teams of the Paladins scored on two punt returns.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Jabrill Peppers in the first quarter, Paramus Catholic led 41-0 at the half.
PC expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. The Paramus school's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by
Willy Hansen.
A 41-point first quarter helped the Paladins secure the big victory. Paramus Catholic scored on a touchdown run by Peppers, a defensive touchdown, a punt return touchdown by
Abdul Neblet, a touchdown catch by
Najee Clayton, a punt return touchdown by Peppers and a
Dejon Harrison touchdown run in the quarter.
Paramus Catholic's most effective player was Peppers. He ran for one touchdown. A member of the 247Sports Top 100, Peppers has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
Led by Peppers, the Paramus school had given up an average of 13.4 points prior to the contest. Notre Dame's 14 points were right around their season average of 14.6 per game.
The win brought Paramus Catholic's winning streak to three games.
Next week, Notre Dame (4-5) will take on Nottingham in a non-conference game. The Northstars go into the week with a record of 6-2.
