The Adams Central Flying Jets will head out on the road to challenge the Monroe Central Golden Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Adams Central came out on top against Southern Wells on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Flying Jets blew past the Raiders 13-1. With that win, the Flying Jets brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Cade Van De Weg spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has become a key player for Adams Central: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Adams Central got a massive performance out of Hayden Bluhm, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI were Bluhm's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Everett, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Adams Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monroe Central). Everything went their way against Wes-Del on Thursday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Golden Bears with their most commanding win of the season.
Caleb Luedike made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Carter Duncan was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Levi Pence, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
With the win, Monroe Central broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-6. As for Adams Central, their record now sits at 4-5.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Adams Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Monroe Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Adams Central took their victory against Monroe Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flying Jets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
