Xavier Castro tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Joey Castillo was incredible, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Nikolas Edwards, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Crescenta Valley's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Dei Catholic, their record is now 2-7.
