The Nantahala Hawks had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Blue Ridge Early College by a score of 85-77 on Tuesday. Nantahala's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nantahala to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole McCoy, who scored 25 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that McCoy posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Neal, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eric Puskarich, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ethan Henson was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds.
Nantahala's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Blue Ridge Early College, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Nantahala's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hiwassee Dam at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Nantahala has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games. As for Blue Ridge Early College, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Robbinsville at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Robbinsville will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Blue Ridge Early College surely won't give up without a fight.
