Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Melbourne Bearkatz, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 41-6 loss at the hands of Hoxie on Friday. Melbourne was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.
Leading Hoxie to victory were Camden Brooks and Kayden Glenn. Brooks rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while Glenn threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Brooks was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Jake Jones also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.
Melbourne has yet to win a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 3-8 record. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Hoxie, Newport, and Salem. As for Hoxie, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Melbourne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hoxie will take on Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
