Softball Game Preview: Beckville Bearcats vs. Carlisle Indians

Beckville has gone a perfect 7-0 against Carlisle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Beckville will take on Carlisle at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Beckville has eight straight victories, Carlisle has 24 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Carlisle's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Beckville hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. Everything went Beckville's way against Elysian Fields on Friday as Beckville made off with an 18-0 win. Considering the Bearcats have won 14 matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Carlisle came up short against Union Grove on Saturday, falling 21-3.

Carlisle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasey Hart, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Hart has posted since back in April of 2024. Xoie Baggerly also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Carlisle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Beckville pushed their record up to 16-7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Carlisle, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.

Beckville took their victory against Carlisle in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 21-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beckville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
