Russell had won three straight at home, but  on Thursday they bumped their record up to 6-7 to make it four. They came out on top against the Ellinwood Eagles by a score of  18-14. The Broncos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
 Sam Thielen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  5.1 innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  triples, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  two  triples gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Max Evans was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Russell is 3-1 when  Evans posts two or  more  runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was  Jared Ford, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 Russell  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 16  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
As for Ellinwood,  with the  defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-5. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  on Monday (11), they still had to take the loss.
 On Ellinwood's side,  Banks Jacobs and  Drake Hosman did some serious damage despite the final result:  Jacobs  went 3-for-4 with six  RBI, one  run,  and one  double, while  Hosman  went 3-for-4 with four  runs, two  stolen bases,  and three  doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cohen Gunn, who  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with four  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Russell beat Ellinwood by a score of  11-1 later that day.
