Last Saturday, Wayne Trace beat Ottoville 45-34. The victory was all the more spectacular given Wayne Trace's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Ottoville is ranked 95th).
Meanwhile, Woodlan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 60-54 to Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran. Woodlan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Alix Jacquay, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Anderson, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds.
Wayne Trace pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Woodlan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Wayne Trace and Woodlan were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but Wayne Trace came up empty-handed after a 45-44 defeat.
